Como cada año, en Santa Mónica California, la noche anterior a los Óscar se celebran los Film Independence Spirit Awards que se encargan de premiar lo mejor del cine independiente de este año pasado.
Sin duda la gran triunfadora fue Spotlight, que se llevó el galardón a mejor película del año y la gala estuvo presentada por Kate McKinnon (SNL) y Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley). En esta ocasión sí fueron premiados varios actores de color, como es el caso de Idris Elba como mejor actor de reparto por Beasts of no Nation y Abraham Attah como mejor actor por la misma película.
Esto es algo que no podremos ver en la gala de los Óscar debido a que no hay ningún afroamericano nominado en las categorías principales. Por ello, varios famosos de Hollywood como Spike Lee y Will Smith se han negado a acudir a la gala que tendrá lugar hoy 28 de febrero.
